The shreds that are the product of destroying hard disks can be recycled for up to 96%! (data: WEEELABEX downstream IT-recycling 2015)
We take the shredded hard disks with us and ensure responsible recycling.
After the on-site destruction of hard disks and tapes, shreds obviously remain. These shreds are collected in plastic containers under the shredder. During the on-site destruction, we can change these containers quickly. The containers are aligned with the logistics system used by the end-processor of the hard disk shreds.
IT-recycling ensures that the shreds are recycled in accordance with state-of-the-art technology and with maximum respect for the environment.
Nearly 100% of the metal is recovered from the shreds of hard disk drives. The lion’s share is aluminium, but there are also low concentrations of other metals such as copper, lead, zinc, and even a tiny amount of precious metals. IT-recycling carries a WEEELABEX certification and this guarantees 100% legally compliant recycling. We only do business with other WEEELABEX certified parties for our recycling operations. Upon your request we can send you statistical data on the amount, composition, and means of recycling of the shredded hard disks.
Shredded tapes are sent for plastic recycling, and are re-processed into new synthetic material.
